Cake Poker review

Cake Poker would probably win the most underrated poker room in the industry title if there ever were awards given out on such criteria. It is underrated because it’s usually considered a mid size poker room with nothing out of the ordinary to offer, featuring average software and average competition levels. The truth about Cake is though that it’s quite an outstanding operation and it offers excellent value for several categories of players. For one, it accepts US players. That fact alone is enough to put it onto the map, because all the truly big online poker operations accept US players. It would seem like everybody who’s anybody accepts US traffic, despite the 2006 UIGEA’s provisions.

Cake Poker’s software may be kind of average, but that doesn’t mean it’s not of an excellent quality. It offers 3D-like avatars and all the features and options a modern poker room should offer. Playing at Cake won’t mean that you will have to lower your software-wise expectations.

Top all that off, Cake offers a whole bunch of outstanding promotions. Just to name one: Cake was the site that bought 2005 WSOP Main Event Champion TJ Cloutier’s pawned championship bracelet recently. After having a little fun with it (like offering it as a one day prize for the winners of special tournaments) the room promptly returned the jewelry to its rightful owner, despite the fact that it had acquired it perfectly legally and that it could’ve kept it for promotional or for other purposes.
